Air Canada Review 2026: Signature Class & Aeroplan

By Sarah Mitchell 14 min read
Quick Answer

Air Canada ranks #16 on FlightLogic at 7.9/10 — Signature Class business pods on 787 and 777 are competitive on UK–Canada routes, and Aeroplan is among North America's strongest loyalty programmes for Star Alliance redemptions.

Air Canada is Canada's flag carrier and a Star Alliance anchor, operating transatlantic routes from London Heathrow to Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. For UK travellers with Canadian ties or Star Alliance status, AC is often the most direct path — and Aeroplan offers redemption flexibility that United MileagePlus and Avianca LifeMiles collectors also access.

Signature Class is Air Canada's long-haul business product — reverse herringbone pods with direct aisle access on 787-9, 777-300ER, and A330-300. Catering is North American full-service: capable but not at the level of Asian carriers. Premium economy and Air Canada Rouge (leisure subsidiary) serve different market tiers — always verify operating carrier on codeshares.

Aeroplan uses dynamic pricing but periodically offers competitive business class rates to Europe and Asia on Star Alliance metal. Amex MR UK transfers to Aeroplan. UK261 applies to UK-departing AC flights. For connections via Toronto to US destinations, allow 2+ hours — YYZ requires immigration and baggage reclaim unless on a protected Air Canada through-fare with US preclearance on select routes.

Before you pack — pre-trip essentials

Flight and hotel links convert late. Finance, FX, insurance, and gear decisions happen weeks earlier — when professionals budget for long-haul stays. These picks fund FlightLogic without touching editorial scores.

Is Air Canada good for UK–Canada flights?

Ranked #16 (7.9/10). Signature Class pods competitive on LHR–YYZ/YVR; Aeroplan strong for Star Alliance redemptions.
