# Open data from FlightLogic

Several datasets power this site — and both are open. Download our editorial airline scores under a permissive licence, and reuse the airport reference data behind our directory profiles and tools.

FlightLogic publishes four open CSV datasets covering its 28 rated airlines — editorial scores, baggage allowances and fees, frequent-flyer programmes, and cabin-bag size limits — all free under a CC BY 4.0 licence, credit FlightLogic. Airport reference data is public domain via OurAirports.

## 1. FlightLogic airline scores — CC BY 4.0

Our editorial ratings for 28 airlines — overall score, safety score, star rating and six category scores — as a single CSV. Free to use, adapt and redistribute, including commercially, with attribution.

Licence: [Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Updated quarterly — the `lastUpdated` column shows the scoring period each row reflects (currently Q3 2026).

### Data dictionary

| `rank` | integer | Position in the FlightLogic airline ranking (1 = highest rated). |
| `name` | string | Airline name as used across FlightLogic. |
| `iata` | string | Two-letter IATA designator code. |
| `country` | string | Home country of the airline. |
| `alliance` | string | Alliance membership: oneworld, star-alliance, skyteam or none. |
| `overall` | decimal 0–10 | Overall FlightLogic editorial rating — the mean of the six category scores, rounded to one decimal. |
| `safetyScore` | decimal 0–10 | FlightLogic safety assessment, informed by audit history and incident record. |
| `starRating` | integer 3–5 | Skytrax-style star band assigned by FlightLogic editors. |
| `service` | decimal 0–10 | Cabin and ground crew service quality. |
| `seats` | decimal 0–10 | Seat comfort, pitch and cabin hardware. |
| `food` | decimal 0–10 | Onboard catering quality. |
| `entertainment` | decimal 0–10 | Inflight entertainment and connectivity. |
| `punctuality` | decimal 0–10 | On-time performance and schedule reliability. |

## 2. Airline policy tables — CC BY 4.0

The same reference tables that power our comparison pages, as CSV. One row per rated airline, regenerated on every deploy from the source that renders the site, with a `lastVerified` column so you can see how current a row is.

These carry free-text fields containing commas, so they are RFC 4180 quoted — use a real CSV parser rather than splitting on commas. Same CC BY 4.0 terms as the scores above.

## 3. Airport reference data — OurAirports (public domain)

Every airport directory profile on FlightLogic — 4,168 active commercial airports with scheduled passenger service under `/airports/ /` — is rendered from a filtered slice of [OurAirports](https://ourairports.com), a community-maintained dataset released into the public domain. FlightLogic keeps large, medium and small aerodromes with `scheduled_service=yes`; closed fields, heliports and seaplane bases are not hosted.

That scale sits alongside the industry benchmark published by the [Air Transport Action Group (ATAG)](https://atag.org/facts-figures): about **4,072 airports with scheduled commercial flights** worldwide (ATAG facts & figures). Counts differ by vintage and definition — FlightLogic’s figure is regenerated from OurAirports on each ingest — but both describe the commercial scheduled network, not every helipad or private strip.

FlightLogic does not re-host the raw dump. Download the source CSVs (airports.csv, runways.csv and related tables) directly from the maintainer's [OurAirports data mirror on GitHub](https://github.com/davidmegginson/ourairports-data) or [ourairports.com/data](https://ourairports.com/data/) — both refreshed regularly.

Because the data is public domain you may reuse it without permission or attribution — though crediting “OurAirports (ourairports.com)” keeps the project visible, and we do so on every directory profile we render. ## Open data FAQ

### Can I use FlightLogic airline scores commercially?

Yes. The scores CSV is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0), which permits commercial use, redistribution and adaptation — provided you credit FlightLogic and link back to flightlogic.co.uk/open-data. See “How to cite” above for ready-made attribution lines.

### How often is the scores dataset updated?

The CSV reflects the current scoring period (Q3 2026). FlightLogic re-reviews airline scores quarterly; historical snapshots are kept internally, and the lastUpdated column always tells you which period a row reflects.

### Is the airport data FlightLogic’s own?

No. Airport names, codes, coordinates, elevations and runway details come from OurAirports (ourairports.com), a community-maintained public-domain dataset. FlightLogic hosts only the active commercial subset with scheduled passenger service (large, medium and small aerodromes) — the same class of network ATAG summarises at about 4,072 scheduled commercial airports worldwide. We add no proprietary data to the raw reference fields — always confirm operational details with the airport or your airline.

### Where can I get the raw airport data?

Direct from the maintainer: the OurAirports data mirror on GitHub (github.com/davidmegginson/ourairports-data) publishes airports.csv, runways.csv and related tables, refreshed regularly. FlightLogic does not re-host the raw dump; we publish only the derived shards that power this site.
